We woke up and started packing around 5:00 and were on the trail at 6:15. It was a cold morning but it felt good to get up and get going.
We had a big day and went 20.9 miles! It feels good to be walking big miles and still feeling ok the next day. We have to wake up and do 5.2 miles to the road to get to Marion. As long as we're on trail tomorrow around 6:30 we should make it in time for the first shuttle in the morning.
We read there's a public bus that passes by at 9:30 and it's a 50 cents ride to town. If we can't catch a ride that would be a great option. We need to go to town, wash a load of laundry, get our package from the post office, fuel from the outfitters, and pick up anything else we need from the grocery store. We're going to stop by a fast food restaurant on the way out of town and try to make it as far as we can down the trail.
There's a church 14 miles from Marion where we can take a shower and stay. It's all donation so we're heading there Sunday to charge everything and take a hot shower!
We passed an old school house at the bottom of this last climb. It was cool because you could go inside and there were old desks and a wood stove in the middle. There were old rules posted and different posters on the walls, it was cool. In the back of the school house were the old boys and girls privies. There was one teacher that taught there and she taught a class mixed with 1st-7th grade.
