Sprout Day 156 (Tuesday, August 30th, 2016)

We made it to Baxter State Park! What a crazy feeling and a huge sense of accomplishment! Tomorrow we're getting up really early, maybe 3:00 a.m., to get ready to summit Katahdin.

Poppa Lip and Mikey showed up today.  We talked to them as they were getting ready to cross the Maine/ New Hampshire border so we were able to figure out when they were going to show up. I went to the parking lot and they pulled in about ten minutes later.

It doesn’t feel real that we are 5.1 miles from reaching the top of Katahdin!  The journey here has been a life changing experience that I'll never forget.  It's exciting to be able to continue hiking after tomorrow. I don't want to stop, I want to keep going and finish the southern end.  The northern section has been hard but so rewarding. It's great to be laying here at the base of this giant mountain and know that tomorrow I'll be climbing to the top!
