Sprout Day 153 (Saturday, August 27th, 2016)

I'm really proud of the Three Amigos today! We got up and started packing at 4:30.  Bubbles got up to pee and turned the water on for the coffee.  It was still dark out so we had our headlamps on.  We had coffee and breakfast and were on trial at 5:30 just as the sun was starting to rise.

It's hard waking up early and get moving but once you get started it feels good to be out early on the trail and putting in miles .  We had 9.4 by 10 a.m. and 14 miles in by 12:00!  There's a 10 mile by 10:00 a.m. challenge and we almost did it.  We were going to go 20 miles today but when we showed up at Antlers Campsite at noon the good old boys from PA and Tumbleweed and Sunflower were at the campsite staying for the day.

It was a beautiful site on a huge lake.  We were thinking about leaving for awhile but eventually decided to stay.  We're going to get up early again and try to get 10 by 10. The girls are getting up with us and hiking out early.  We caught a bunch of mussels on the lake and a few fish. We had a feast around the fire.  It's always nice to camp around cool people and the day was filled with laughter, fishing, swimming and sunbathing.  It's a crazy feeling to think we're only 51.7 miles from Katahdin.  It's a great feeling! I remember being at home doing research for the trip and Katahdin was so far away, I can't believe it's only a few days away now. 15 miles into our day tomorrow we're going to be at a view where you can see Katahdin. I read at that point were actually only 16 miles from Katahdin but the trail takes 35 miles to get there. Tomorrow's view should be a great one being that close.
