Sprout Day 176 (Monday, September 19, 2016)

I woke up to the sound of rain last night around 2. I was glad we ended up staying in the shelter because it rained all night and into the morning until 10:00 a.m. So much for an early rise! Since it was raining and lightning we staying in the shelter until it stopped. It felt good to sleep in and it felt even better knowing all of our stuff was dry!

The rain didn't make the temperature any cooler either, it actually just made it worse. It was very humid all day and we spent most of the day going up a mountain.  Due to the weather we didn't get far, only 5.5 miles.

We're staying at Marble Spring campsite tonight. We have 49 miles until the next town, Daleville. Our plan is to get up early tomorrow and try to get over the next mountain before more rain moves in. I think it's supposed to rain for a couple hours in the afternoon. We only saw two other hikers today, the girl that was camping at the shelter with us, and a section hiker.

According to Bubbles, she finally found someone who walks the same pace as her!
