Leaving Maria's was hard. We made breakfast for ourselves and enjoyed each other's company. A rule at Maria’s house is you cook your own breakfast. We knew we wouldn't see Maria because she said she didn't roll out of bed until around 9 a.m. and we were trying to get an early start. I loved how Maria set out our place settings and some butter to get soft the night before.
After breakfast I did all of our dishes so that Maria didn't have to. I then sat her place setting for her breakfast. Maria said she eats waffles almost every morning. She had run out of waffles but luckily Whiskers went down to the store to get some Eggos for Maria the day before (because he is great). I set out her syrup and her favorite coffee cup. Then, I started leaving little love notes all over her house. One sticking out the the new Eggo box. One in the living room by her remote. And a few other places. I wanted her to know how much we loved and cherished our time with her.
When we left and got back on trail I was sad to leave Maria but excited to be hiking. We went over three amazing mountains today and I loved every second of it. We hiked over Bear Mountain in Connecticut and then BAM we were in Sages Ravine. This was the most spectacular and magical place I've been to in a long time. It's beauty took my breath away. I suggest everyone go there once in their life. We didn't even know it yet but we had made it to Massachusetts! When we saw the sign I was happy to be with Sprout and Whiskers. Who better? My heart was happy and I was excited for the next mountain.

Man was I in for a treat. Race Mountain was awesome. The trail ran along the edge of some cliffs and it was scary and exhilarating at the same time. I really enjoyed myself and was happy I was walking by myself here. I could see Robby way off in the distance along the cliffs. After that we hiked up Mount Everett which was another cool feeling. Three mountains in one day! Heyyyy! We are starting to act like real hikers :)
When we got to the campsite I was overjoyed to see all the pine trees. Evergreens are my favorite things in the world. I slept like a baby. I still went to bed missing Maria and her comfy home.

This is a great example of the roots of trees that we are constantly hiking over. It's easy to sprain an ankle! |
