We slept in a little later than expected and got a late start to the trail. We were not looking forward to walking the two miles down that busy road to get back to the trail. As soon as we opened the door to leave the hostel, and started walking up the stairs, a car immediately pulled up and asked if he could take us to the trail!
Vernon has been great to us and the people have been so helpful. Of course, we wanted a ride but told him we had to go to the post office to send a few things home. No problem, he said he'd meet us down there in ten minutes!
When we got back on the trail it was hot and our bags were heavy. We had to walk up the Stairway to Heaven which was an intense walk up but the view was amazing when you reached the top! We could see far back and kind of follow the trail thru the mountains. It was a great feeling to see how far we’ve come from.
We ended the day at a State Park with some trail magic that Towsack and Hazben informed us about. There was this great lady that works for Campmor, a hiking store in the area, that likes to come out and provide trail magic for hikers. She had a lot of great stuff for us and it was right by the shelter. We ate while chatting and eventually went back to camp full and happy!
