Picnic table at the shelter |
Eckville Shelter. It's enclosed with two doors so there is a nice breeze through it. |
Bubbles inside the shelter |
We knew that there were going to be a lot of rocks in the terrain today so we just planned to go to the next shelter. It was a tough day and there were definitely a lot of rocks on the path. The rocks were slippery and it made it difficult to make our way through the mountains. We were thankful it didn't rain anymore. That would have made our hike even more difficult! I almost fell a few times but caught myself before I went down.
We passed a few weekend hikers, day hikers, and thru hikers today. We are still with Karma and Mountain Man.
It was beautiful earlier. I noticed so many different birds calling and took a video to try to capture the moment. It's nice to be able to wake up walk and listen to the sounds of the forest.
We got to camp around 3:30. Smudgy, Karma and Mountain Man were here and had just started a fire. I set my boots next to the fire before bed to dry them. We shared many laughs with our new friends, listened to the Greece soundtrack, and quoted movies around the fire. We plan on stopping at this restaurant four miles into our hike tomorrow for lunch. Tomorrow's hike will total little over ten miles.

Hurting my feet! |
It's weird to think of the cleared sections in towns. Wonder if they had to clear a bunch of rocks there. |
Happy these were not slippery today. |
