We woke up late and enjoyed the fact that we get to rest our bodies today and relax. Sprout has started calling zero days, “errand days.” We have a lot to do today, laundry and a Walmart run. It started raining and I was happy to be taking a zero. Before we left for the laundromat we moved our tent inside the lean-to shelter to prevent it from getting wet. There are a bunch of bunks to sleep inside the church but we prefer being outside and close to our besties (Karma and Mountain Man) and their tent was in the shelter too.
It was cool going to the laundromat with Karma and Mountain Man because they had never experienced one before. Mountain Man wore a poncho as a skirt and a rain jacket while he washed all of his clothes. It was pretty funny.
After our clothes were as clean as they were going to get we went to Walmart for a resupply. The Walmart had a McDonald's which was awesome. Burgers while shopping is the best thing ever. When we were walking out of Walmart the boys stopped to play the crane games. Sprout snagged a 2 for 1, both being SMURFS! One a girl, the other a boy, and our mascots were born! Fernando is the boy and Mellie is the girl. A true love story. After that we headed back to the hostel.
When we got back the hostel was packed with hikers. We were shocked to see so many! I was pretty upset when I found out that a thru-hiker named Sporky had called us a very vulgar name for setting our tents up in the lean to. I normally don't set my tent up in the shelter, but we were at a hostel with places to sleep inside. Even being packed there was still enough space for everyone to sleep inside if they wanted. Some hikers that have come all the way from Georgia suck. They aren't friendly and act like their dookie doesn’t stink. I prefer nice hikers who use kindness to address a problem instead of just being a prick. I am blessed that the people I am hiking with are kind and treat everyone with respect. Maybe Sporky can take a lesson from us.
