Day 1 (Monday, March 28th)
We started at the bottom at Fishrock Gap, Virginia in Shenandoah National Park today. We are heading north to Maine so we can start this once in a lifetime adventure on the Appalachian Trail!
It was very windy and still is at night time. We walked the hardest part with eight miles today and went up and down three mountains with at least 1000 feet in elevation each! I feel like I already gained most of my muscle back (from walking earlier in the year) in my legs!
It's very peaceful out here in the mountains and I can feel the vibrations in them! I feel so blessed for being a part of this great group of thru-hikers. I'm taking it one day at a time. There is no need to rush things. Some people who rush and get hurt don't finish the AT!
Day 2 (Tuesday, March 29th)
We hiked 13 miles today. It was a beautiful sunny day. The hills seem to be getting steeper and higher as the trails seems to get longer. I met some new people that gave me tips for this adventure. It is all mental throughout. To get from point A to point B I have to have the discipline to do this. I feel like the pounds are going to shed off soon and I feel like my stomach will shrink soon too. We need at least seven days of food when we are not near towns or in National Parks. Towns will have grocery stores so we can buy our supplies and hopefully find some all you can eat buffets!
Day 3 (Wednesday, March 30th)
We hiked 13 miles again today. I feel excitement because of this peaceful learning experience. I can start to see positive things happening to me in the future as I clear my head from the past. I don't need a lot of things out here to survive, just time to love it everyday! Being outdoors is the best therapy a person could need (I think) but every life on our planet is different. I hope one day I can be able to motivate people on the right path of life and bring in the positive part!
Day 4 (Thursday, March 31st)
We hiked eight miles today. It was amazing because nature is starting to change from winter to spring up here in the mountains. It feels like a fall day in Northeast Ohio! A storm is coming in and it is going to get exciting as heavy winds are coming in from the south.
Day 5 (Friday, April 1st)
We hiked 13 miles today!! We are living on the mountains while we hike them everyday. It is no joke, it's a lifestyle choice to better yourself. It’s important to stay focused on mental health to achieve this adventure! We are loving it but it takes discipline to do this!
Day 6 (Saturday, April 2nd)
We hiked 11 miles today and my feet are starting to feel pain from the mountains underneath my feet. This path is giving me challenges but I am going to achieve my dream by taking it one day at a time. We camped with a bunch of Boy Scouts. It must be spring break down here and it reminds me of when I was a Scout as a kid. A wicked storm is blowing hard winds.
Day 7 (Sunday, April 3rd)
We hiked 10 miles and we are staying at the Byrds Nest 3. You can see towns off in the distances while standing on the ridges of this mountain. There was a spectacular sunset tonight. The views are a once in a lifetime experience! I'm meeting a community of lovely people that have a great time with the this life choice (living outside to experience the East Coast of America’s backwoods.)

We hiked a 4 mile day. It was really easy. We got to the hut around noonish and made a big fire for the day. The hut got packed and we have seven people in here. It’s also really cold out tonight!
Day 9 (Tuesday, April 5th)
We hiked 13 miles today. I sprained my ankle two miles in! My dad told me to walk off the pain so that's what I'm doing! There are great northern views of the park off of the mountains. We got into the hut and we were by ourselves. We are starving. I’m really hungry because we are almost out of food!! lol
Day 10 (Thursday, April 7th)
We hiked 3 miles to the Mountain House "Cabbin." It is a bed and breakfast. It is very nice. It was a slave house in the 1700s. We got into Front Royal which is a nice old mill town that has historic places. Now some sleep for tomorrow's hike!
